NOVEMBER edition

“Give Thanks to the Outdoors”

November is a time for gratitude, and as anglers, we have plenty to be thankful for: crisp mornings on the water, peaceful sunrises, and the thrill of every strike. This month let’s show our appreciation by giving back to the waters that give us so much.

๐ŸŸ Handle with Care – Cold Water Season

As temperatures drop, fish become more fragile.

  • Minimize air exposure - cold air can damage gills and eyes.

  • Use rubber or knotless nets to protect scales and fins.

  • Revive fish before release by gently moving them back and forth in the water until they swim away strong.

๐Ÿงน Ramp & Shoreline Clean-Up

With the season winding down, boat ramps and banks often collect leftover trash. Take a few minutes before or after your trip to:

  • Pick up discarded line, hooks, and soft plastics.

  • Dispose of old line properly - monofilament can take 600 years to decompose!

  • Encourage your fishing partners to leave each spot cleaner than they found it.

๐ŸŒพ Protect Our Habitat

Fallen leaves and runoff can change water quality. Avoid fueling or washing boats near the shoreline, and be mindful of debris that can clog ramps or harm fish habitats.

๐Ÿ’ช This Month’s Challenge

Before winter storage, perform a quick boat and trailer inspection:
โœ… Drain all livewells and bilges.
โœ… Remove vegetation.
โœ… Wipe down your hull.
These small steps help stop invasive species from spreading between lakes.
